Less than two weeks ago and while I was working, my grandmother spontaneously kept coming to mind. I thought it was because I had not called her back from the previous month when I had called and my aunt told me she was asleep. In fact, for two weeks she kept coming to mind but I kept saying, “I will call” and had not. Well that day, the impression to call her was very persistent until I stopped what I was doing and called my aunt who had been taking care of her. It turns out my grandmother was in the hospital. The next day my grandmother said she wanted to go home and the hospital released her, she passed away three days later. I was able to travel back to my hometown and see her the day before she passed. I was able to talk to her, sing to her and tell her I loved her. I was able to sit with her and be there when she took her final breath. I was only able to do this because God was persistent in communicating her to me and I am so thankful for that.

To tell you the truth, this really started about two years ago. The same type of persistent impression kept coming to my heart and mind back then, so I put a reminder on my calendar to call her regularly. You have to understand that my grandmother was still in her early 70s and full of life, she loved to dance and travel and enjoyed friends. And like any other person who takes for granted that their loved ones will always be around, I am also guilty. Within that two year period she had been in an accident, she began to let me know that her feet were giving her problems, and over that period, she loss use of her muscles. However, I was able to talk to her and she shared her faith and her trust in God. I was able to ask her why she gave of herself to so many people. We were able to have our time together. I had no idea what was coming just two years later but because God still speaks and in His way, spoke to me, I was able to talk to my grandmother more than I had in all of my adult life, I am so thankful for that. Again I pray this testimony will be one that helps you to know that God does still speak, He does so in various ways, and He does so for good reason. As Jesus expressed to the disciples about why He spoke to the people in parables and He explained that the people’s hearts were hard, we all have a choice whether or not to open our hearts and listen to what God has to say. Chose to hear Him, because you never know how important His Words are to you…

Matthew 13:15-16 “For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’
But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”
