Tis the Season to be Jolly!
Christmas…, that time of year when there seems to be a warm feeling of cheerfulness and glee? Have you ever stopped to wonder why? Why, the selfish become givers, the pessimistic show a glimpse of optimism, the sad become joyful and the downtrodden, upbeat? I believe, the songwriter, Isaac Watts, was under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit when he wrote the lyrics to “Joy To the World.” . If you have never listened intently to the essence of this song, I encourage you to do so. In it, he captures the true reason we should be “jolly” and why people seem to have the “Christmas spirit.”
Let us not get entangled in the secular hype of Christmas, but rejoice because our Lord is come, our Savior reigns and He rules with truth and grace.
Thank You for allowing Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to come and redeem Your people back to You! Thank you Father for your promises, provisions, protection, and love. Let the Heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad! I give praise and thanks to you, O Lord, because YOU reign!
